AlpineAid's unique herbal and vitamin complex improves circulation, increases oxygen absorption, and relieves the headache, nausea, and fatigue associated with being at elevation. In short, AlpineAid helps you ski harder, ride faster, climb higher, be more comfortable, and have more fun at altitude.
Here is some of the science behind it's effectiveness:Ginkgo Biloba
A mainstay in the nutritional regimen of the world's top high-altitude mountaineers, Ginkgo is thought to be the oldest tree on the planet, first growing over 190 million years ago. Ginkgo has long been used to improve cognition. More recently, much attention has been given to its remarkable ability to improve circulation, particularly to the central nervous system. In a 2002 double-blind study, Ginkgo significantly decreased the severity of Acute Mountain Sickness symptoms, as compared to placebo (Gertsch et al, 2002). In a separate study that was both randomized and placebo-controlled, administration of Ginkgo appeared to prevent the onset of Altitude Sickness (Roncin et al, 1996).
Eleuthrococcus Senticosus
Research has shown that Eleuthrococcus' tonic effect on the adrenal glands greatly improves the body's physical performance & mental capability in cold weather. As much as a 9% improvement in physical stamina has been attributed to the use of Eleuthrococcus.
Ginger
Revered in Asia for centuries, ginger is most effective at relieving the nausea and light-headedness associated with being at elevation. It is also a remarkably effective circulatory stimulant, and an effective anti-inflammatory agent (Kiuchi, 1992). Recent studies have also shown it to be useful for the treatment and prophylaxis of headache.
Vitamin E
In 1988 it was proven that a dose of 400mg/day of Vitamin E can dramatically improve exercise performance at altitude (Simon-Schnass, Pabst, 1988). Since then, it has been credited with myriad physiological benefits, including antioxidation, prevention of cardiovascular disease, and prevention of exercise-induced tissue damage.
Vitamin C
For decades, Vitamin C has been used to prevent and ameliorate a wide variety of infections and to enhance the effectiveness of the immune system. Its antioxidant effects have been demonstrated as increased resistance of red blood cells to free radical attack in people in environments of reduced oxygen.
Coenzyme Q10
Long used by athletes as a natural performance enhancer, Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant with cytoprotective and neuroprotective qualities. Additionally, an open-label study has shown that CoQ10 is an effective prophylactic treatment for headache - a primary symptom of altitude sickness.
